With great sadness, the Department of Philosophy announces the passing of Brian Deane, beloved and longtime philosophy teacher at VCU on February 9, 2023.

From the obituary:

"He was a long-serving professor of philosophy at VCU and area community colleges. He was a teacher to all in word and deed. He was a lover of the great outdoors with a deep respect for nature."
